Welcome to Milwaukee Wisconsin

Today is Saturday November 22, 2008

Uniquely Milwaukee

Learn the history behind your favorite Taste of Home publications, including Country Woman and Birds & Bloom, with a delightful visit to Reiman Publications Visitor Center. The center is also home to a recipe test kitchen as well as the County Store where you're sure to find your next favorite cookbook and more.

Enjoy shopping and lunch in Historic Greendale, a "Greenbelt Community" developed in the 1930s as a WPA Project.

After lunch experience a desert oasis, a tropical jungle and special floral gardens all in one place! The Mitchell Park Horticultural Conservatory, known locally as "the domes", features three domes--the Arid, Tropical and Show which has five annual, distinctly different themed displays with seasonal plants. Unique to Milwaukee and the only horticultural structure of its kind, the Domes offers visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves in a sensory panarama no matter what the weather.

Stop by Miller Park, home of the Milwaukee Brewers and the only ballpark in North America to boast a fan-shaped convertible roof and natural grass playing field. A behind-the-scenes tour will get you up close and personal with several aspects of the park including the dug out and Bob Uecker's broadcast booth.

Strap on your ice skates and "glide" in the footsteps of Olympic greats like Bonnie Blair and Dan Jansen at thePettit National Ice Center. The Pettit is an official U.S. Olympic training facility, the only one of its kind in the United States and one of only a handful in the world. It was the first facility to house speed skating, hockey and figure skating under one roof.

Wrap up this experience with a leisurely dinner along the RiverWalk. Enjoy your meal under the stars as you get a bird's eye view of riverfront architecture and the perfect opportunity to people watch!
