DESTINATION MARKETING ACCREDITATION

DMAI Logo

VISIT Milwaukee joins an elite group of destination marketing organizations by receiving its accreditation from the Washington, DC-based Destination Marketing Association International. The Destination Marketing Accreditation Program (DMAP) recognizes destination marketing organizations (DMOs) that provide outstanding services in accordance with international standards and benchmarks in the field.

"This accreditation is a tremendous accomplishment and speaks to the professionalism, dedication and commitment to excellence of the entire staff of VISIT Milwaukee," said Doug Neilson, president and CEO of VISIT Milwaukee. "By establishing universal standards, DMAP accreditation will raise the bar within the industry and have a significant impact upon DMOs across the nation. I'm proud that VISIT Milwaukee will serve as a leader in the accreditation process."

To qualify, a DMO must successfully complete a rigorous application process proving compliance in a variety of areas, including governance, finance, management, human resources, visitor services, sales, communications, membership, research/market intelligence, innovation and stakeholder relationships.

VISIT Milwaukee joins five other DMOs receiving accreditation in 2006, bringing the total number of DMAP-accredited DMOs to 15. "We are very pleased to recognize these DMOs for providing outstanding services," said Barry Biggar, CDME, DMAP board chair. "By applying for and receiving DMAP accreditation, they have demonstrated a commitment to quality programs and services."
