2008 AZA Annual Conference Milwaukee
September 12-18, 2008
WELCOME TO MILWAUKEE
On behalf of the Milwaukee County Zoo and the entire staff, we’re looking forward to hosting the 2008 AZA Annual Conference. This year’s conference will take place Saturday, September 13 through Thursday, September 18, and offers a dynamic mix of program sessions, committee meetings and evening social activities.
This microsite is designed to assist you as you make your plans to attend the conference and visit our wonderful city. The links provided offer details on everything from airport shuttle service and the Midwest Airlines Center layout, to dining and shopping suggestions. This site also is directly linked to both the AZA website and the Milwaukee County Zoo site for on-line registration purposes, or if you should need additional information.
Highlights of the Milwaukee conference include: a pre-conference tour of the Racine Zoo – located on the sandy shores of Lake Michigan and featuring giraffes, rhinos, lions, tigers, orangutans, kangaroos and more living in exhibit spaces designed to imitate natural surroundings; the Milwaukee Public Museum, one of the country’s premier natural history museums, serves as the backdrop for our Icebreaker on Monday evening; the conference will conclude with a wild day at our Zoo, featuring recent exhibit additions like the Florence Mila Borchert Big Cat Country showcasing our magnificent felines, and the Miller Brewing Company Giraffe Experience, where you’ll go eye-to-eye with these gentle giants. Your first glimpse of the Zoo will take place through the new U.S. Bank Gathering Place, a 23,000-square-foot covered atrium and mall. A mini-amphitheater, renovated restaurant and coffee shop and new gift shop are some of the featured amenities.
In addition to a great meeting, during your stay in Milwaukee you’ll also enjoy entertainment, celebration and fun, which are truly the essence of our city’s rich cultural experience.

See you in September!
