Doyle failed to exercise fiscal discipline
<br /><br />Jim Doyle&amp;rsquo;s tenure as governor has been a disappointment. Recent reports indicate that the state&amp;rsquo;s budget deficit hole has ballooned to more than $2.5 billion, even as Doyle saw fit to raise taxes significantly on businesses and individuals alike. Likewise, the state&amp;rsquo;s budget woes have contributed to a spike in local property taxes during a period of declining property values. The result: jobs fleeing the state. Although Doyle cannot be blamed for the nation&amp;rsquo;s overall economic malaise, he can, and should, be blamed for failing to exercise appropriate fiscal discipline inside state government.
