What does a 15-hour flight and a couple thousand bucks get you? A one-way ticket to Beijing, an empty wallet and a suitcase full of wrinkled clothes. We’ve got a better idea. Head to Milwaukee for the Summer of China, June 11 to September 11. The Milwaukee Art Museum is one of only three in the nation to host The Emperor’s Private Paradise: Treasures from the Forbidden City. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get up close and personal to artifacts from the famed Quianlong Garden in Beijing. But we’re not stopping there. It’s a part of five exhibitions, covering 3,000 years of Chinese history, in one summer.
China’s national pastime comes to Milwaukee June 30 – July 4 during the U.S. Open Table Tennis Championships. See world-ranked athletes and Olympic superstars – more than 700 players from 15 countries on over 100 tables - at the Frontier Airlines Center.
Add an all-new China Fest July 23-24, Dragon Boat races along the Lake Michigan Shore, and the Midwest's largest Lantern Festival and you're talking China, Milwaukee-style.
Get your I Got the Best Fortune Cookie kind of time here.
