2025 NFL Draft: Milwaukee to Green Bay

April 24 - April 26, 2025

For the first time in more than 85 years, the NFL Draft returns to our home state on April 24-26, 2025, when our neighbors up the road in Green Bay play host. While this will be the first time the city of Green Bay has welcomed the NFL Draft, it will be the second time that this prolific sports event has made the trek to Wisconsin – the first time being December 9, 1939, when the Schroeder Hotel (known now as the Hilton Milwaukee City Center) in downtown Milwaukee served as home of the NFL Draft. And in that MKE spirit, we’re draughting up the Super Bowl of NFL Draft-adjacent activations steeped in our city’s iconic sports history, attractions, brews, pubs, restaurants, and venues! Cheers to your MKE x NFL Draft adventures!

Milwaukee Draft HQ: A Schroeder Hotel Throwback

In honor of the Draft’s return to Wisconsin, we’re bringing the Schroeder Hotel’s late 1930s vibes back to the Hilton Milwaukee City Center, Visit Milwaukee’s official headquarter hotel during the 2025 NFL Draft. The Crystal Ballroom’s 6,600+ square feet of space and Art Deco-era aesthetics will serve as the perfect backdrop for 2025 MKE Draft Central, where NFL fans can gather to each night of the Draft for a throwback party. Think big screens, food and brews, live entertainment, football memorabilia and all things Milwaukee sports tourism!

Iconic (and Timely) Attractions

Our city has things to do in every season, but spring embodies a bountiful juxtaposition of Milwaukee sports and entertainment. Day at the ballpark? Head to American Family Field for a Brewers game. NBA playoff basketball? The Milwaukee Bucks – NBA champions in 2021 – are playoff regulars. A fan of motorcycles? Hit the Harley-Davidson Museum. Want to catch live music or a theater production? See who’s playing at The Rave and Pabst Theater. Long story short, sports and entertainment flat-out delivers in Milwaukee!

For the History Buffs

In addition to being home to Wisconsin’s first NFL Draft, Milwaukee has a sports lineage that features pro football fun facts (and places) aplenty! Consider the following as part of your trip itinerary:

The day after Wisconsin’s first NFL Draft – December 10, 1939 – the NFL championship game was played at Wisconsin State Fair Park. In a game known as “The Dairy Bowl”, the Green Bay Packers defeated the New York Giants, 27-0, to take home the title. That very field still stands and is programmed today within the infield of the Milwaukee Mile race track on the Wisconsin State Fair grounds.

From 1933-94, the Green Bay Packers split their home schedule between Green Bay and Milwaukee and the games in the Brew City were held primarily at Milwaukee County Stadium. American Family Field officially replaced Milwaukee County Stadium in 2001, yet the lore of the old Stadium exists to this day. Adjacent to Am Fam Field is County Stadium’s old footprint, which includes the visitor-friendly Helfaer Field that’s suited for youth baseball, softball and other events. And while you’re there, be on the lookout for the location of where home plate was at the old County Stadium.

A nonprofit and community staple, Journey House empowers families on Milwaukee’s near southside to move out of poverty. As part of its program deliverables, Journey House is also where guests can enjoy the only official Green Bay Packers turf field in the world outside of Lambeau Field in Green Bay. Located in Mitchell Park behind the Mitchell Park Domes at South 22nd and Pierce Streets, the Journey House Packers Stadium opened June 6, 2013. The synthetic turf football field was donated to Journey House by the Green Bay Packers, which used the field as part of their practice facility during the late 1990s and early 2000s. Nowadays, the field is home to youth leagues and other sports events.
