DO: Show up early to claim your spot.
Lawn space in Cathedral Square is in high demand on Thursday evenings. If you want a prime viewing location, grab your picnic blanket and head to the action around 5:00 p.m. Need even more incentive? There are happy hour drink specials from 5:00 – 6:00!
DON’T: Pack wine, beer, or liquor.
Beverage vendors line the park during the evening, providing affordable wine, beer, or cocktails for optimal jazz enjoyment; however, outside alcohol is not permitted. Proceeds go back to supporting the event so it can continue to return each year.
DO: Pack a picnic.
Make it a classy evening with artisan cheeses and charcuterie or just grab a chili dog from the Real Chili across the street. Whatever you’re feeling, you can bring it with you. Don’t want to pack a basket? Food vendors are available throughout the park for all your snacking and dining needs.
DON’T: Be afraid to dance!
Get off your picnic blanket, head toward the stage, and show off your best dance moves.
DO: Be a good neighbor.
Share the lawn with your fellow concert-goers. Try not to block others’ views of the stage. Make friends with the people around you. Jazz in the Park is the most fun when everyone is having a good time together.
DON’T: Leave the family at home.
Everyone is welcome at Jazz in the Park. Kids love the music, atmosphere, and dancing as much as the adults. Definitely a family-friendly event.
DO: Get creative with your transportation.
Rather than circling around to find parking, why not try another method of transportation? Hop on your bike, take the city bus, or hop on The Hop – Milwaukee’s Streetcar – when it opens in fall of 2018.
