No matter what brings you to Milwaukee, there's family fun waiting! Whether it's a wedding, a family visit, or a stop on a longer trip, check out these ideas for keeping the kids entertained when you visit Milwaukee.
Attend a Wedding
Guarantee a peaceful ceremony by taking the kids to get their energy out during the day. Explore the outdoors at Schlitz Audubon Nature Center or one of three branches of the Urban Ecology Center. Turn them loose in Milwaukee County Parks’ playgrounds, splashpads, and ice rinks for a hearty dose of fresh air year-round.
Catch a game
Before heading to cheer on your team, give your sports fans the opportunity to get active in Milwaukee! At Adventure Rock, your kids can literally climb the walls – any active kid will be captivated by the 150+ possible routes on the walls at this indoor rock climbing gym. Or hit the ice at the Pettit National Ice Center, an official US Olympic training site for speed skating. You can skate on one of only two indoor Olympic Ovals in the United States!
Visit family
Get the whole extended clan out and about with a trip to the Milwaukee County Zoo. With more than 3,000 creatures representing 402 species, educational shows, and interactive fun like the SkyTrail Ropes Course and beloved Zoo Train, there are hours of fun for all ages 365 days a year!
Unplug
There were no cell phones in the 19th century! Old World Wisconsin is one of the nation’s top living history museums and features more than 60 original structures from all over the state. Join in crafts, farm chores, games, and more interactive fun as re-enactors show you what life was like for Wisconsin’s early settlers.
Make a stop on a road trip
No one knows the open road like Harley-Davidson! Make a pit-stop at the world’s only Harley-Davidson Museum where interactive exhibits showcase the extraordinary products, people, history, and culture of this iconic American company. Little visitors can try on a pint-sized leather jacket and rev the engine on a bike that’s just their size in the Imagination Station.
Take a beercation
Kids can still experience a classic Milwaukee brewery tour at Sprecher Brewery, where everyone who takes the brewery tour gets unlimited samples of the gourmet craft sodas. (Adults also get two beer samples.) Beer gardens are also back in a big way in Milwaukee. These community gathering places offer plenty of room for kids to play and dance to live music while parents enjoy a stein of beer.
See how Cheeseheads are made
Milwaukee is the home of the iconic Wisconsin headwear, the foam cheesehead. Tour the Original Cheesehead Factory in Walker's Point and see how these fun foam hats are made. You even have the chance to make your own Cheesehead to take home with you as part of the "Holey Cow" tour. Or if you'd rather, pick out your favorite foam accessory from the large retail space at the factory.
