Milwaukee Reopening

As destinations begin to reopen and events resume, we know safety is top of mind for travelers. Across the city, from transit to restaurants, Milwaukee's businesses and services are taking steps to ensure public health and safety. We, at VISIT Milwaukee, want to make sure all our visitors are aware of the special measures that have been put in place to make your time in Milwaukee fun and protected.

Milwaukee is currently in Phase 6 of the Moving Milwaukee Forward Safely Plan. Due to positive momentum with gating criteria some restrictions have been lightened. Updates in this order include:

  • Restaurant and bars can operate at 50% without an approved safety plan or at the capacity dictated by their plan. Physical distancing requirements will still be in effect.
  • Eating and drinking may only occur while people are seated or stationary. Standing and movement through an area is permitted, but you must be masked while walking.
  • There are no more restrictions on the number of guests that can be seated at the same table.
  • Museums can be open with capacity limits and protective measures including masking.
  • Dance floors can now be opened but masks are required. Dance floor capacity must not exceed one person per 30 sq. feet of space. You may dance with those in your group, but must remain physically distant on the dance floor from other groups.
  • Gathering spaces, including those at places of worship, can now operate at 75% capacity with a maximum of 750 people indoors and 1,000 outdoors, however, more can be allowed with an approved safety plan.
  • Sporting events are now allowed six spectators per player, with a limit of 750 fans indoors or 1,000 fans outdoors as long as physical distancing can be accommodated. An approved safety plan can allow larger crowds. This also applies to bar leagues, like volleyball.
