In France, July 14 is Bastille Day, the country’s national holiday. In Milwaukee, the annual celebration of French culture spans for four days and begins with the Storming of the Bastille, a 5K run/walk event. Bastille Days features classic French cuisine, entertainment, and live music. In addition to a large marketplace filled with Parisian chef and artisan delicacies, French cooking and wine demonstrations from local experts take place throughout the weekend. Entertainment ranges from roaming buskers to mimes to music, and a French festival would not be complete without the Eiffel Tower; Milwaukee’s version stands 43 feet tall and offers hourly light shows.
