The world’s largest LGBTQ event with permanent festival grounds is Milwaukee Pridefest, which celebrated its 30th year in 2017. This three-day event, which features six stages of live music, entertainment, and celebration of identity, is held at the Summerfest Grounds during the second weekend in June and is run entirely by volunteers. Each year, over 30,000 visitors head to Milwaukee’s scenic lakeshore to foster a community of solidarity and pride. The event’s 30th anniversary celebration in 2017 marked record attendance of over 37,000 and was declared the largest LGBTQ pride event in Wisconsin history. In conjunction with the festival, the annual Milwaukee Pride Parade takes place on Sunday along 2nd Street.
