Things You'll Find:

  1. The Racine Zoo is home to over 75 different species of animals and over 300 individual animals.
  2. The Racine Zoo is one of only 240 zoos accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and held to the highest of standards.
  3. Construction of the Vanishing Kingdom building (housing primates, big cats, and more) was completed in 1939 and still stands today.
  4. Racine Zoo is currently the only zoo in the U.S. doing voluntary fetal ultrasounds of emperor tamarins and has started the first database of fetal emperor tamarin measurements.
  5. The Racine Zoo's resident white-handed gibbon, Yule, is the oldest of his kind in North America.
