Milwaukee’s premier historic film venue, this movie palace originally opened in 1927. Carefully preserved and restored, the Oriental Theatre features an East Indian motif, including porcelain lions, hundreds of elephants, intricate mosaics, and more. Not only is the theater the main venue for the annual Milwaukee Film Festival, it also maintains the world record for continual showings of the Rocky Horror Picture Show, which has screened as a Saturday midnight movie since January 1978.
