Ruben Salas

With more than 28 years of experience in public transportation, Ruben Salas has built a career rooted in frontline maintenance and operations, progressing through a wide range of leadership roles. Having worked closely with operators, mechanics, supervisors, and managers, he brings a deep respect for frontline work and a practical, people-centered leadership style. Most recently, Ruben served as Assistant Vice President of Bus Maintenance at Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART), leading a multi-divisional team of more than 400 employees, while helping modernize fleet and maintenance operations. Now serving as Vice President/Deputy CEO at MCTS, he focuses on supporting the CEO and guiding the leadership team while prioritizing safe and reliable service, strong maintenance and operations performance, thoughtful capital investment, and employee development. He is motivated by MCTS's mission to connect communities and deliver equitable transit service across Milwaukee County.
