Discover More About Light The Hoan
Light the Hoan is a nonprofit initiative that has transformed Milwaukee’s Daniel Hoan Memorial Bridge into a brilliant beacon of community pride, connection, and storytelling. Since its launch in 2020, the bridge’s ever-changing LED lights have illuminated the skyline to celebrate local causes, cultural milestones and personal dedications, with each light representing a moment that matters.
Through initiatives like Shine a Lite, which spotlights nonprofits, and Code the Hoan, which teaches students to program the lights, the organization fosters deeper community engagement. Signature events like Hoancoming blend music, art and tech to invite residents and visitors alike to experience the bridge in a new, interactive way. With a goal to complete lighting the east side of the bridge by summer 2025, Light the Hoan continues to rally community support through fundraising efforts like personalized bulb dedications, all while uniting Milwaukee under a shared vision of creativity and connection.
