February brought big moments for Milwaukee sports, from celebrating Girls and Women in Sports Day to cheering on local athletes competing on the world stage at the 2026 Winter Olympics. Back home, competition stayed strong as the Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center welcomed another busy season of swim meets and championships. Here are three highlights from Sports Milwaukee this month.

Girls & Women in Sports Day

In February we celebrated National Girls and Women in Sports Day and recognized the female athletes across our organization and community who continue to move sports forward. Women’s sports have grown rapidly in recent years, driven by athletes competing at the highest levels and inspiring the next generation to step onto fields, courts and ice across the country. At Sports Milwaukee, we are proud to support and celebrate the athletes who continue to build that momentum.

Milwaukee Area Represented at 2026 Olympics

The Greater Milwaukee area went for gold in Milan as athletes competed on the world’s biggest stage for Team USA at the 2026 Winter Olympics. The Games took place February 6–22 across Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, bringing together the world’s best winter athletes for two weeks of competition.

Several athletes with ties to Southeastern Wisconsin represented the region and the state in Italy. From Jordan Stolz, the speedskating standout who trains at the Pettit National Ice Center, to Marquette University’s Emery Lehman and Paralympic wheelchair curler Laura Dwyer, local competitors showcased the talent that continues to grow across Wisconsin. Here are the athletes who represented Southeastern Wisconsin on Team USA this year:

Venue Spotlight: Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center

While the Winter Olympics took center stage, Milwaukee continued making waves at home. Each year, the Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center welcomes athletes and fans from across the state, hosting around 90 days of swim meets, diving competitions and water sports across more than 40 events.

This season is already underway. The aquatic center hosted the 46th Annual A+ Meet from January 30 through February 1 and continued with major competitions including the WIAC Conference Meet on February 18–21 and the WI Senior State Meet from February 27 through March 1.
