This is it. The holiday you’ve all been waiting for and the blog post that quite simply cannot be contained in its whimsy. Welcome to Groundhog Day 2025. Yes, the day is upon us and the hour of our future is nye. Soon, we learn our fate. Will it be six more weeks of winter or is spring already on its way? Only time—and the Milwaukee County Zoo’s Nigerian dwarf goats—can tell.
That’s right, they're going with the goats this year. After the tragic passing of the G.O.A.T., Gordy the groundhog, and a brief interlude in the world of the Humboldt penguins last year, the zoo’s goats are on the clock for this year’s forecast.
While there’s no real way of knowing which way the goats are leaning, what we do know is that their promo photos look like these goats are about to drop the hottest albums of 2025. So, to have a little fun with this, the most unpredictable of holidays, we spent some time speculating about the types of albums these charismatic cloven-hooved little critters would release. Here’s what we’ve come up with!
“Oracle” by Bleat Foxes
All you need is one look at these goats to know that they’re about to drop the meanest stomp-clap folk album this world’s ever seen. With unmatched harmony, catchy choruses and just a few more band members than you expected, “Oracle” blurs the line between genres in all the best ways. In a few months, this will be the band that all your friends say they discovered before they got big.
“GOATS.” by Kenderick Labaah
Thoughtful. Poetic. A one-of-one. The rap game will never be the same, and it’s all thanks to Kenderick Labaah. Already one of the most influential artists of his generation, his dense lyrical ability and unparalleled songwriting shine through one his latest album “GOATS.” It’s only a matter of time before he steps up to the big stage for the Big Game.
“Get Your Goat” by Billiegoat Eyelash
It’s the album of the summer. The kind of pop that feels like it’s coming from everywhere all at once. The songs mark a specific time and place for fans across the world, their infectious vibe coursing through the collective social consciousness. This is one artist you’ll want to catch on tour before they blow up into the next sold out stadium sensation.
Bonus: “Egress” by Baaag Thief
The album no one saw coming. The indie darlings are back with another collection of songs that seemed to materialize from thin air, somehow as old as time and brand new. Your favorite band’s favorite band, every track on “Egress” draws fans deeper into the band’s fragile sound and poignant songwriting.
You can see these icons predict on the Milwaukee County Zoo’s website and social media channels, as the goats give fortune-telling a try.
