Following an out-of-this-world ArtBlaze in 2024 that featured the striking extraterrestrial-inspired cosmopods, a 12-foot-long dragon sand sculpture and over 600 toasted s’mores at Bradford and South Shore beaches, Joy Engine announced the return of the nonprofit's flagship event earlier this week. And this year, ArtBlaze is heading to a new home on Milwaukee’s lakefront.
Taking place this year on July 24, August 7 and August 21, McKinley Beach is set to welcome this year’s ArtBlaze festivities. The recently renovated beach will provide a fresh experience, increased parking and a central location to host the celebration of arts in Milwaukee. The summer favorite will feature a loaded slate of live artist activations, local entertainment and a wide variety of vendors that you won’t want to miss.
But the star of the show has to be the debut of a new collaboration between FuzzPop Workshop and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee School of Architecture, dubbed HydroBloom. Unlike anything you have seen before, HydroBloom is a massive new art installation that spans nearly 1,000 feet and responds to your every move, with glowing pulses of color that flow across the beach and lake. It is immersive, playful and a one-of-a-kind creation that you’ll only find in Milwaukee.
At its core, ArtBlaze is a big bash that brings together the city’s creative community to create an event like any other in the city. It’s a festival atmosphere where the unexpected meets the unforgettable. It’s where Milwaukee’s creative spirit springs to life in a way that everyone can join in the fun. And best of all, it’s free.
