Monday blues got you down? Are the dog days of summer dragging on? Well, allow us to brighten the mood with some food news! Today, Southside Dining Week announced the dates of its 2024 festivities, celebrating the city’s sensational culinary scene found south of the Menomonee River. Running from September 28 through October 5, this year’s Southshore Dining Week features over 30 area restaurants from 27 Milwaukee neighborhoods, each offering a signature dish.
Southshore Dining Week Live Band Brunch Kickoff
The week kicks off on Saturday, September 28, at Zocalo Food Truck Park with a kickoff party. Running from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., head on over to the food truck park for a live band brunch kickoff, with an afternoon of dancing, local performances, a 414flea makers market, collaborative art activities and, of course, tons of delicious food from Zocalo’s vendors.

We couldn’t help but sneak a peek at the signature dishes for the week. Here are five we can’t wait to try:
- Sabrosa Cafe & Gallery’s S.B.B.B.S: Spicy brown sugar bourbon glazed bacon sandwich with fried egg & cheese.
- Anytime Arepa’s beef arepa: Beef brisket arepa served with your choice of beans, sweet plantains, cheese and salsas (garlic, spicy or avocado).
- Modern Maki Sushi’s MKE burrito: crab mix, cream cheese, avocado, cucumber, sweet potato tempura, asparagus and eel sauce.
- LuLu Cafe & Bar’s sesame chicken pita: Sesame, ginger, and rice wine vinegar marinated chicken breast, grilled and topped with sweet pepper, scallion and cucumber relish. Served with a side of chile-cilantro mayo.
- Purple Door Ice Cream’s ice cream flight: Four kiddie scoops of your choice of ice cream flavors.
