This Milwaukee Brewers team is different. It’s a no-nonsense, hard-nosed ball club with an underdog mentality. It’s a team playing exciting, fun-to-watch baseball that just so happens to have won the N.L. Central Division on Wednesday and celebrated with a walk-off win over the Philadelphia Phillies. It’s a team brewed for big moments.

Now that the Milwaukee Brewers have punched their ticket to the 2024 Major League Baseball (MLB) Postseason, here are a few things you need to know.

Who do the Milwaukee Brewers Play?

New York Mets (89-73)

The Brewers started the season by dispatching the Mets in three straight, giving New Yorkers the impression that it might be another long season. But what started as an inauspicious start has unfolded into a thrill ride for Mets fans, with highs and lows, peaks and valleys, and…Grimace (yep, that Grimace).

Looking at the matchup, the Mets lead with a stable of quality starting pitchers, including David Peterson (10-3, 2.90 ERA), Sean Manaea (12-6, 3.47 ERA) and Jose Quintana (Formerly of the Cubs, 10-10, 3.75 ERA). Offensively, the team boasts three big bats, headlined by phenom Francisco Lindo (32 HR, 29 SB), Pete Alonso (34 HR) and Brandon Nimmo (27 HR).

The Brewers and Mets faced off in only two series this year, bookending the 2024 MLB season, with the Brewers coming out ahead 5-1. The most important factor in this series appears to be rest. The Brewers had today off, while the Mets had to fight, scratch and claw their way to the finish line, coming back to defeat the Braves in a doubleheader.

Now, less than 24 hours later, the Mets are headed to the Cream City for the opening game of the Wild Card round tomorrow afternoon. The Brewers will hope to capitalize on the Mets’ fatigue and take a decisive one-game lead going into Game 2 on Wednesday.

What Happens When the Brewers Win the Wild Card Series?

After a best-of-three Wild Card Series, the Crew would advance to the National League Divisional Series against the Phillies.

National League Divisional Series

Series Start Date: October 5
If they're able to advance past the three-game series of the Wild Card round, they'll face off against the Phillies with a chance to advance to the club's first NLCS since 2018.

The Crew would then open up the five-game series on the road, with home games on October 8 and 9. While nothing's for sure, you can snag your seats to the divisional round now!

Where Can I Watch Brewers Postseason Baseball?

American Family Field

Roll out the Barrell. Zing, boom AND tararrel. The gang’s all here at American Family Field. There really is nothing quite as electric as a playoff atmosphere in Milwaukee.

Whether it’s the 65,000 crowded around screens in Deer District during the Milwaukee Bucks NBA Finals victory or the 42,000 fans packing American Family Field for MLB Postseason drama, there’s just something magical about playoff season in the Cream City.

Every pitch. Every at bat. Every fly ball and every “get up. GET up. GET OUTTA HERE AND GONE!” All urged forward by a raucous legion of true-blue Brew Crew fans. There’s no other way to say it: Milwaukee does the playoffs right.

Sports Bars

While we’ve done our level best to petition Rob Manfred and the offices of Major League Baseball to host every postseason game in Milwaukee, sadly, there are some games that must be played outside the friendly confines of American Family Field. That’s why the universe gave us the gift of sports bars.

We started making a list of all the places that’ll show the Brewers playoff games, but it’s a pretty safe bet that if they’ve got a TV and the Crew are in action, the Crew will be on the tube. Cheer on the Brew Crew with your crew and dozens of your new best friends at a local sports bar!
